Privacy Policy
Last updated 27 October 2026
The short version: you give Lyricly a song so it can chart it. We use it for that, keep it so your charts work, and delete it when you ask. We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across apps.
Who we are
Lyricly (“we”) makes the Lyricly app for iPhone and the lyricly.ai website. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Your account. When you sign in with Apple, Google or email we receive your email address and, if you share it, your name. If you use “Hide My Email” with Apple, we only see Apple's relay address. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and are never visible to us.
- The songs you import. The audio files you choose, record, or link to, plus their titles and artists. These are needed to produce your lyrics, chords and MIDI transcriptions.
- What Lyricly makes from them. Lyrics, chord charts, timings, MIDI transcriptions, and your edits, setlists and settings.
- Basic technical data. Our servers keep short-lived logs (such as request times, errors and IP addresses) to keep the service running and to stop abuse. We don't use advertising identifiers or third-party analytics.
How we use it
- To transcribe lyrics, detect chords and tempo, separate instruments, and produce MIDI from the songs you give us.
- To keep your library, charts and edits available on your devices.
- To send account emails you ask for (confirming your email, resetting your password). We don't send marketing email without your consent.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use your songs to train our own models.
Who helps us
We use carefully chosen providers to run Lyricly. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Hetzner (Germany): our servers, where your songs and charts are stored.
- Supabase (EU, Frankfurt): sign-in and our account database.
- OpenAI and Anthropic: speech recognition and language models that transcribe lyrics and review chords.
- Replicate and Modal: GPU computing that separates vocals and instruments and transcribes notes.
- Mirelo: instrument detection and MIDI transcription.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, if you choose them. Apple's iTunes Search is used to find album artwork by song title and artist.
- Resend: delivers account emails.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website.
Some of these providers are outside the European Economic Area. Where that's the case, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Your songs, charts and account stay until you delete them. Deleting a song in the app removes its audio and everything made from it from our servers. Deleting your account (Settings → Account → Delete Account) removes your account and every song, chart and transcription linked to it. Server logs are kept for a short time and then deleted. Songs saved on your iPhone stay there until you delete them or the app.
Your choices and rights
- See, correct or delete your data at any time in the app, or ask us to do it for you.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or UK GDPR), you may also have the right to access, export, restrict or object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority.
- Our legal bases are performing our contract with you (making the app work), our legitimate interest in keeping it secure, and your consent where we ask for it.
Children
Lyricly isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app for significant changes.
